Net Zero Emission Cities for a Sustainable Future

Reducing CO2 emissions is vital for our world. The main reason for the factors that threaten humanity and nature such as climate crisis, extreme natural events, famine and drought is that we create more greenhouse gases than our atmosphere can handle. Much more of the technological achievements achieved throughout human history have occurred in the last century. Gaining so many new experiences in such a short time made us realize too late that we were harming the world. Today, practices that cause serious harm to our world have been used for a long time, such as the fact that some substances that have been proven harmful and banned for use were encouraged to be used even in babies when they were first introduced, and it took a long time to give up these practices after these harms were realized. Many technologies that are new to humanity have emerged in the last century and have changed the lifestyle of societies and become indispensable because alternative technologies are not available, even if it has been proven that they harm the environment.

Transportation is one of the most important examples of this situation. With the rapid shift of the population towards cities, the rapid increase of the population in cities from year to year, and the continuous expansion of the city area, and the need for transportation increasing day by day, both individual and public transportation are becoming more and more important day by day. This situation causes the greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere by vehicles with internal combustion engines used for transportation to increase day by day and to deepen the climate crisis.

In order to prevent this situation and leave a cleaner world to future generations, climate-based regulations created by countries coming together will be brought under control by becoming regulations and even laws in the very near future, and technology will also develop to support these conditions. The financial resources of countries will be spent to develop such environmentally friendly and sustainable approaches and make them usable in daily life. Thus, the resources that have allowed us to modernize and become rich so far will be used to prepare our world in the best possible way for future generations.

Thanks to initiatives such as the Green Deal and Fit for 55 put forward within the European Union, a healthier future awaits both humanity and our world.
